The State Council for the Environment (Coema) of Ceara has granted approval of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) for the development of a 182 MW solar photovoltaic project.
The Novo Mundo solar project is proposed by local Brazilian company, Internacional Energias Renovaveis Ltda (IER). The facility, which will consist of four solar farms, will be built on about 393.18 hectares of the area within the Taiba port industrial complex. Three of the solar farms will have a generating capacity of 46 MW while the remaining solar farm is 44 MW.
IER plans to start the construction of the solar project before February 2022 with expected commissioning on April 2023. Once operational, the solar farm can generate up to 470 GWh of energy per year.
