The State of Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Internacional Energias Renovaveis Ltda (IER) for the development of a 2.7 GW offshore wind farm project.
The wind farm will be linked with a green hydrogen production facility. IER plans to invest up to BRL18 billion (US$3.3 billion) to develop the Ventos Potiguar Offshore Wind Complex. The project will have 207 turbines installed in an area that is about 8 km off the coast of Pedra Grande and Sao Bento do Norte.
The environment impact assessment process of the project is set to be launched soon.
