Iberdrola has started the construction of its 50.4 MW Askio III wind farm project located near the city of Kozani, in the Western Macedonia region, Greece.
The project is equipped with 12 units of 4.2 MW turbines, supplied by Vestas Wind Systems A/S. Once operational, the project is expected to be able to supply electricity to more than 54,000 homes.
Each of the turbines has a 70 meter long blades and a rotor diameter of 150 meters. It will be transported using the "blade lifter'" technique. The installation of the turbines is expected to be completed before the end of 2022.
