Iberdrola Australia and ABEL Energy will construct the 10 MW Bell Bay green hydrogen and green methanol production project in northern Tasmania, Australia. The government will support the EUR1.1 billion (US$1.17 million) project.
In its initial phase of development, Bell Bay will generate 200,000 tonnes of green methanol annually, rising to 300,000 tonnes in its second phase. This will make the project among the world's largest.
Green methanol will be supplied to the shipping market as well as other applications.
