Everfuel A/S of Denmark and Greenstat AS of Norway propose to build a hydrogen hub in Kristiansand, Norway, with a 20 MW electrolysis capacity that will be increased to 60 MW later. The announcement of the development of Hydrogen Hub Agder comes after the firms signed a partnership agreement in July 2021.
Everfuel and Greenstat will collaborate on the project in a 51/49 joint venture. The partners have previously sought finance through Enova, a government-owned company.
The first phase, which is anticipated to produce 8 tonnes of green hydrogen per day, is expected to go online in late 2024, with the second stage following in 2027. The center will serve the maritime industry, as well as mobility and industrial customers.
Everfuel and Greenstat have formed a partnership with Elkem ASA to lease land on the Fiskaa industrial compound near Kristiansand's harbors. Glencore Nikkelverk will offtake the extra oxygen. A number of companies have signed letters of intent to offtake hydrogen from the project, including Holland-Norway Lines, FFS Marine, and Arriva Shipping, as well as Asko Agder and Implenia.
