The government of Germany intends to surpass its 2035 offshore wind energy target of 40 GW and reach 50 GW of installed capacity. To achieve the goal, Berlin will tender 4 GW of offshore wind energy capacity yearly beginning in 2027.
The agreement was signed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the coastal states of Hamburg, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Lower Saxony, and Schleswig-Holstein, as well as Bremen, North Rhine-Westphalia, and transmission system operators TenneT, 50Hertz, and Amprion.
