General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has partnered with Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL) and Total Energies to build a 500 MW Sadada solar photovoltaic project that will be located about 280 km south-east of the capital Tripoli, in the Sadda region of Libya.
The project will be equipped with over 1.2 million solar panels and is expected to generate up to 152 TWh per year. The solar farm is part of the strategic plan of GECOL and REAoL to integrate more installed capacity from renewable energy sources into Libya's electrical network.
