TotalEnergies, through its wholly owned subsidiary Centre Manche Energies, filed an application with the French authorities for authorization to develop the 1.5GW Centre Manche offshore wind project off the coast of Normandy, France.
Situated over 40 km off the coast of Normandy, the Centre Manche Energies offshore wind farm is set to become the largest renewable energy project ever undertaken in France. Upon completion, the 1.5GW development is expected to produce approximately 6TWh of electricity annually, providing enough clean power for more than one million households across the country. The project entails an investment of around €4.5 billion (US$5.23 billion) and is expected to draw on the expertise of the regional workforce, which has extensive experience in the offshore wind industry. TotalEnergies also plans to prioritise European suppliers for key components, including wind turbines and electrical cables, supporting the broader European renewable energy supply chain.
