Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) has started the operation of its 138 MW solar photovoltaic project in the Extremadura region of Spain.
The San Servan 220 solar PV farm consists of three solar parks - SS6, SS7 and SS8, which are installed in about 256 hectares of area in the municipality of Solana de los Barros in the province of Badajoz. Once operational, the project will generate about 290 GWh of energy per year which is equivalent to the annual need of up to 88,500 homes.
French bank Natixis supported the PV project, by providing undertaking finance. In addition, FRV has signed a power purchase agreement with Engie for the output of the solar plant.
