SC Freiburg, a German football club, has announced the completion of a 2.4 MW rooftop solar photovoltaic farm on the roof of Europa-Park stadium constructed by German system integrator Badenova.
After the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) and the testing and certification institute VDE have certified the installation, the rooftop solar system in Freiburg is expected to be grid-connected in September.
Meyer Burger's 6,000 heterojunction solar modules were installed on a 15,000 sq.m. roof area. Badenova invested approximately EUR2.3 million (US$2.33 million) in the system, which will be operational for the next 20 years.
