Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft AS has signed a 5-year year power purchase agreement (PPA) with solar energy developer Sunovis for its 30 MW solar photovoltaic project that will be located in the Western Mecklenburg-Pomerania, Germany.
The Strasen solar park is financially supported by German lender UmweltBank while investor and fund manager Oekorenta provides equity financing. Once commissioned, the project will operate entirely without subsidies under Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).
The solar farm is expected to generate enough power for up to 33 GWh of energy annually which is enough for the consumption of about 11,000 local homes.
