AMEA Power announced that it has reached financial close on its 120 MW solar PV project located in Kairouan governorate, Tunisia.
This solar facility is being executed by Kairouan Solar Plant, a project entity registered within Tunisia, wholly owned by AMEA Power, and will be situated in Metbassta, Kairouan governorate. Financing for this solar venture is being provided by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, as well as the African Development Bank (AfDB). The project follows a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model and is anticipated to produce 222 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to meet the power needs of over 43,000 households.
The solar plant's commissioning is slated for mid-2025, contributing to a reduction of 117,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over its operational lifespan. It is expected to be completed in 2024.
