EWEC (Emirates Water and Electricity Company) UAE has received four proposals from interested bidders for the tender of the 1,500 MW AC Al Ajban Solar PV Project in Abu Dhabi under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
ACWA Power, EDF Renewables, Marubeni Corporation, and a consortium consisting of Jinko Power and JERA, have submitted their respective proposals to build the project. EWEC received 43 Expressions of Interest from potential bidding companies and consortiums. After filing Statements of Qualification, only 19 teams have qualified for the RFP round. Moving forward, the proposals will undergo a detailed technical and commercial evaluation process to select the best proposal.
Once commissioned, the project is expected to generate enough power for up to 160,000 homes across the UAE and is expected to reduce Abu Dhabi’s carbon emissions by up to 2.4 million metric tonnes annually. The awarding announcement and signing of the Power Purchase Agreement are scheduled for Q4 2023.
