EverWind Fuels Company has secured Environmental Approval from Canada's Minister of Environment and Climate Change for the first phase of its CAD6 billion (US$4.5 billion), 1 million tonnes per year green hydrogen and green ammonia project in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia.
The Environmental Approval allows development to begin during the first half of 2023. The site has the ability to generate more than 10 million tonnes of green ammonia per year, and with nearly CAD1 billion (US$743.7 million) of existing storage and logistical facilities, it is an excellent hydrogen hub that is connected by rail, road, and pipelines in addition to its port facility.
EverWind is applying for leases on 137,000 acres of land in order to construct a 2 GW wind farm. It is anticipated that the second phase of the green hydrogen facility will be powered by onshore wind by 2026.
