The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of sole control over certain assets belonging to Senvion GmbH of Germany by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, S.A. (SGRE) of Spain.

The Senvion assets comprise a large part of Senvion's onshore windfarm servicing business in the European Economic Area, all of Senvion's intellectual property (IP) and Senvion's wind turbine blades manufacturing facilities in Vagos and Oliveira de Frades (Portugal). Senvion's manufacturing business of wind turbines is not part of the transaction.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns.
