Eni and Sonatrach have commenced the construction of the 10 MW Solar Lab photovoltaic (PV) project at the Bir Rebaa North (BRN) production complex in the Berkine basin of south-eastern Algeria.
The Solar Lab showcases various photovoltaic panels that will be tested in the harsh irradiation conditions of Southern Algeria to determine the most efficient technologies. The Solar Lab will be available for university and public research.
Together with an existing 10 MW PV solar farm launched in 2018, Solar Lab will double the renewable energy available to power the upstream processes.
