Enel Green Power Espana (EPGE) has started the commercial operations of the 39.37 MW Campoliva II and the 34.65 MW Primoral wind farms, located in the province of Zaragoza, Spain. The two wind farms have a combined investment of EUR75 million (US$83.57 million).
The Campoliva II wind farm is part of the 540 MW wind energy project auctioned by the Spanish government in 2017. The wind farm is located in Alfajarín municipality and features 15 turbines which can generate up to 119.34 GWh per year and expected to offset up to 78,500 tons of CO2 annually.
The Primoral wind project is located at the municipality of Villamayor de Gallegó, featuring ten wind turbines that produce about 107.58 GWh per year and avoid the annual emission of 71,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The construction of the Primoral wind farm has started in 2019.
The Primoral wind farm is the result of a long-term energy purchase and sale agreement (PPA) signed by Endesa and BBVA and does not correspond to the MW awarded in the auctions. The Primoral wind farm will supply 30% of BBVA's energy consumption in Spain, while Endesa will provide the remaining 70% through the traditional supply model based on green certificates.
EGPE has secured a 540 MW of wind power and 339 MW of solar energy at government auctions held in May 2017, with a total investment of more than EUR800 million (US$891.39 million). EGPE has currently connected the 339 MW of solar and some 160 MW of wind to the grid. The rest of the project's construction and operation are scheduled to be ready by the end of the year.
