Enel North America has signed a retail electricity supply agreement with Eaton. Under the agreement, Enel will provide Eaton's Sherman facility in Texas with electricity, using renewable energy certificates (RECs) generated by Enel's 500 MW High Lonesome wind project in West Texas, USA. The deal will cover the entire facility's electricity load.
The wind electricity and associated RECs are certified by Green-e Energy, providing independent verification of ownership and product quality. The retail electricity supply agreement is part of Eaton's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% and achieve carbon-neutral operations through its 2030 science-based targets.
The collaboration between Enel and Eaton dates back to 2016, and it has expanded over the years. Enel has provided Eaton with different products such as advisory services and demand response services, while Eaton supplies hardware and equipment across Enel's renewable energy portfolio.
