Eneco has announced plans to construct a 50 MW/200 MWh battery in Belgium. The battery system will assist Elia in balancing the country's electricity grid as the number of renewable power sources increases. Eneco has secured the necessary permits, ordered the battery, and started preparatory works to ensure that the facility will be operational by the end of 2024.

The four-hour battery system will be located in Ville-sur-Haine, Wallonia. It will comprise 53 Tesla Megapacks, each of which consists of more than 3,000 individual batteries. As part of the project, Eneco will also install two transformers and build a connection to the nearby power station.

Eneco is an integrated Dutch energy group with more than 7,000 employees and headquarters in Rotterdam. The company invests in well-maintained networks, onshore and offshore wind farms, solar energy projects, and biomass plants in the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, France, and Germany.
