Endesa SA has begun construction of the 71.5 MW combined capacity of Estrella and Encina al Sol solar projects on an old open pit coal mine in Castile-La Mancha, central Spain. Each of the solar farms will have a 35.75 MW capacity.
Endesa will invest EUR40 million (US$38.9m) in the two projects.
There will be a total of 128,000 bifacial modules on the Estrella Solar and Encina al Sol projects. Once they are up and running, the two solar farms will produce up to 140.85 GWh of electricity every year.
