Enel Green Power Brasil, a renewable energy unit of Enel Brasil, has started the construction of the 399 MW Lagoa dos Ventos V wind farm project, the second expansion of the Lagoa dos Ventos wind complex.
The wind farm will be constructed municipality of Dom Inocêncio, in the state of Piauí, Brazil. The facility will consist of 70 wind turbines. Enel is investing around BRL2.5 billion (US$470.30 million) in the construction of the project.
Once operational, the Lagoa dos Ventos V wind farm is expected to generate about 1,670 GWh annually, offsetting up to 910,000 tons of carbon emission per yeaer.
