EE North America has acquired a majority stake in two solar projects - Sandy Hill Solar and Sand Dune Solar, located in Colorado, USA. The goal is to accelerate the transition to clean energy in the country. By joint venturing with Horus Energy, the solar farms add 700 MW of solar energy to EE North America's existing solar pipeline under development, reaching a total of 2.5 GW. This venture is a significant step towards the company's goal of developing 10 GW of renewable energy in the US by 2026.
One promising feature of this development is that the joint venture partner, Horus Energy, has developed solar PV projects in various geographical locations such as North America, the UK, and Europe for over 12 years. The Sandy Hill Solar and Sand Dune Solar projects, which will interconnect with the Public Service of Colorado network, are expected to start construction in 2025. This indicates that EE North America is making a significant move towards achieving its mission of being a leading global force in promoting the green transition.
The energy that 10 GW can provide is equivalent to the electricity needed to power 7.5 million homes, which is more than the total electric capacity of 14 individual states combined.
