Enel North America has selected Oklahoma as the planned site of its proposed 3 GW solar cell and manufacturing facility in the USA.
The cell and panel factory will have an initial capacity of 3 GW with a plan to double the capacity to 6 GW in the future. The plant is expected to provide millions of dollars in state investment and more than 1,500 jobs, with production beginning in late 2024.
The US$370 billion Inflation Reduction Act, which includes tax benefits for the production of solar cells and panels, has made the United States more appealing to solar component makers.
