Standard Solar has completed the acquisition of the 1.5 MW Knox solar power and 2 MWh of battery storage from EDF Renewables North America. The project will be able to directly supply power to Acton Water District’s microfiltration treatment plant, the district's largest electric load in Massachusetts, USA.
The project’s solar and storage system is expected to generate approximately 1,872 MWh of clean energy annually. The Acton Water District will also receive discounted clean power, as well as lease revenues from the system. The project is expected to offset the carbon dioxide equivalent of burning more than 700 tons of coal each year and will play a significant role in helping Massachusetts achieve its ambitious clean energy goals to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
The solar and storage project is an important addition to the Acton Water District’s clean energy portfolio. By expanding their use of sustainable energy, the district will be able to make significant strides in reducing its carbon footprint, while also improving energy efficiency and saving on energy costs.
