The Ministry of Mines and Energy of Brazil has approved the planned wind projects of EDP Renovaveis SA to enter the national Incentive Regime for Infrastructure Development (REIDI).
The 42 MW Boqueirao I and the 37.8 MW Boqueirao II wind projects in the municipalities of Lajes and Caiçara do Rio do Vento, in Rio Grande do Norte will now require about BRL398.3 million (US$72.4 million) of investment, an estimated BRL40.6 million savings after the incentives from REIDI.
The wind farms will operate under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with an unnamed buyer. The plants are expected to be operational by January 2024, with the construction works beginning in November 2022.
