EDP Renewables (EDPR) has announced plans to develop its stand-alone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project in Europe. The project, which will be located in Kent, England is expected to contribute around 50 MW of capacity to the power grid and provide 2 hours of storage capacity. The initiative will not only offer flexibility but also align with the UK government's renewable energy strategy.
The storage system developed by EDPR will be acquired from Tupa Energy. EDPR aims to bring the storage system online by the end of 2024, ensuring the successful integration of sustainable energy sources into the national grid.
