EDP Renewables and ENGIE have launched the new 50/50 joint venture company Ocean Winds (OW) that seeks to focus on the "pure" offshore developments.
OW North America, the US arm of the company, will hold the 50% share of the 804 MW Mayflower Wind project in Massachusetts under development in partnership with Shell New Energies US the owns the other 50%. OW North America is also a partner in the Redwood Coast floating offshore wind farm on the Northern California coast.
Ocean Winds now holds a 5.5 GW portfolio of assets with about 1.5 GW under construction.
