EDF Renewables, a unit of EDF Group, has started the development planning for Phase 2 of the Blyth Offshore Demonstrator (BOD) wind farm off the coast of Northumberland in the UK.
Phase I of the project with a designed capacity of 41.5 MW has started the commercial operation in October 2017. Since Phase I and II would have a total generating capacity of 99.9 MW, Phase II is designed to produce up to 58.4 MW of power.
EDF plans to install five turbines about 14 km from the shore at a water depth of around 55 meters. The company is conducting an environmental assessment for the project. The estimated commercial operation is by 2025.
