Ecopetrol has planned to build a 50 MW photovoltaic (PV) park in Colombia.
The 46-hectare facility will be built at Castilla La Nueva, in the central-eastern department of Meta, and will be owned by Ecopetrol's transport subsidiary Cenit.
Construction will begin midyear ahead of a scheduled December 2020 startup.
The new solar park will power oil and gas operations at the Llanos basin's Castilla, Chichimene and Apiay fields, in addition to the San Fernando and Apiay crude pumping stations.
