ACCIONA Energía has announced that it has been awarded, together with its local partner Freya Renewables, development rights for a 160 MW wind farm in The Philippines.
The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) has granted the contract through its fourth Open and Competitive Selection Process (OCSP4) for hydropower, geothermal, and wind energy resources. This contract involves the rights for exploration, development, and utilization of wind resources within a specified area in the municipality of Pantabangan, located 150 km north of Manila.
The Philippines government is actively advocating for renewable energy development to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels, with ambitious targets to increase the renewable energy share in the overall energy mix to 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040.
