Zonal Renewables has planned to construct a new 100 MW floating solar project on a 90-ha fishpond in Cadiz, Negros Occidental province, Philippines.

The floating solar power farm carries the potential to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1,250 tons each year. The company is taking advantage of the positive outlook for renewable energy projects in Negros Occidental, as the area is expected to have improved transmission capabilities soon.

Additionally, in August, Acen, a subsidiary of the Ayala Group, unveiled ambitious plans to develop a massive 1 GW floating solar project on Laguna Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the Philippines. Acen has submitted contracts to the Department of Energy for eight parcels, each spanning 100 ha, strategically located in the southern and eastern sections of the lake. This initiative marks a substantial step forward in the expansion of renewable energy in the region.
