DEME was awarded two transport and installation contracts for the foundations and offshore substation for the offshore wind project on the French islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier. The wind farm is owned by Éoliennes en Mer des Îles d'Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN), a partnership that consists of ENGIE, EDPR, Sumitomo Corporation, La Banque des Territoires, and Vendée Energie.
DEME will carry out the preparatory work for the offshore substation jacket as well as the transport and installation of the 2,700-ton topside. Monopile foundations and transition components will be also transported and installed as part of the scope.
The wind farm is situated in a rocky region with difficult maritime conditions. The construction of the monopile foundations will thus need DEME's drilling technique. The second half of 2023 will see substation pre-piling. In early 2024, the monopile foundations, substation jacket, and topside will be installed.
