Coveris has signed a 10-year purchase agreement with Neoen for its 57.4 MW Storbrännkullen wind farm project located in the counties of Jämtland and Västernorrland, in the municipalities of Ragunda, Strömsundand Sollefteåin in Sweden.
The contract covers the entire energy requirement of Coveris' plants in Europe. Since Coveris introduced its No Waste sustainability vision, the packaging company has significantly improved its sustainability performance. With No Waste, the company is fulfilling its quest to avoid waste in all its forms – in production, packaging, and packaged goods - and has most recently also launched ReCover, a stand-alone entity bundling all efforts in waste sourcing, processing, and recycling to close the loop for circular plastic recycling.
The construction of the wind farm started in July 2022 and is scheduled to be commissioned in late 2023. Once operational, it is expected to have a production capacity equivalent to the annual consumption of 30,000 homes.
