Neoen has received both federal and state environmental approvals to proceed with its inaugural wind project in Western Australia—the 200 MW Narrogin Wind Farm, which includes a 100 MW/200 MWh battery storage system.
The project has received a Not a controlled action (NCA) decision under Australia’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act. Neoen’s proposal calls for the construction of a wind park with up to 25 turbine generators near the townships of Williams and Narrogin and 160 km southeast of Perth. The turbines, with a minimum turbine blade tip height of 59 metres, will be coupled with a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 100 MW/200 MWh. The wind farm can connect to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) from an existing 220-kV transmission line located nearby. Once in operation, it will generate around 630,000 MWh of electricity annually, or enough to power 100,000 homes.
In Western Australia, Neoen is currently building the Collie battery complex, which had its 219-MW/877-MWh first stage enegised in late 2024. The second phase of the project will add 341 MW/1,363 MWh of capacity.
