Compute North has announced the energization of its fifth TIER 0™ data center which is powered by green energy in Texas, USA. A 280 MW wind project spanning 29 acres in the Wind Energy Capital of Texas will provide the data center with its required power for operation. Marathon Digital Holdings Inc. will be the sole customer for the computing facility.
The TIER 0 facility will provide the wind farm with a guaranteed power off-take. This will help get the most out of the asset which would have to cut back on production otherwise during times of peak generation when wind turbines produce more energy than can be used, stored, or transferred. Additionally, the on-site computing operations that are carried out by Marathon Digital's ASIC bitcoin miners are designed to turn power directly into a digital and transportable store of value on the Bitcoin network.
