The University of Alaska Fairbanks situated in Alaska, USA is planning to launch a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking a private operator for its on-campus utilities and combined heat and power plant (CHP) project.
The CHP comprises one 240,000 pounds-per-hour coal-fired boiler and one 17 MW steam turbine generator, with the potential to be converted to natural gas in the future.
The selected bidder will be responsible for the finance, operation and maintenance of the utility systems for a 50-year period. The University has decided to issue the RFQ after the virtual investor day which was held on July 29, 2022.
