TotalEnergies has started commercial operations of Myrtle Solar, its utility-scale operated solar farm in Houston, Texas, USA.

Spread across an expanse equivalent to 1,800 American football fields, the solar plant, featuring 705,000 ground-mounted photovoltaic panels, generates an ample supply of clean electricity, sufficient to meet the energy needs of approximately 70,000 households. Notably, 70% of Myrtle's capacity is dedicated to providing environmentally friendly power to TotalEnergies' industrial facilities in the U.S. Gulf Coast region. The remaining 30% of its capacity is committed to supplying Kilroy Realty, a publicly traded real estate company, under a 15-year corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) indexed on merchant prices.

In addition to the photovoltaic installations, the solar power plant is equipped with battery energy storage systems to address grid stabilization requirements. This storage solution, with a combined capacity of 225 MWh, comprises 114 Advanced Energy Storage Systems (ESS) containers meticulously designed and assembled by Saft, an affiliate of TotalEnergies known for its cutting-edge industrial battery solutions.
