The environmental authority for the Chilean region of Antofagasta has accepted to review the environmental impact statement (EIS) for a 671 MWp Pauna solar photovoltaic project located in the municipality of Maria Elena, Tocopilla Province, in the Antofagasta Region.
The EIS was filed by the project developer Statkraft A/S. The project has a planned total investment of about US$496 million and will be using over one million solar modules and a 220-kV transmission line spread in around 809 hectares (2,000 acres) of land.
The construction of the project is expected to begin in January of 2022.
