Norwegian renewables company Statkraft A/S has secured environmental approval for the development of the 671 MWp solar photovoltaic project located in the region of Antofagasta, Chile.
Named 'Pauna Solar', the project will be co-located to a 2.06 MWh battery energy storage system. The solar plant will feature up to a million bifacial solar modules that will be constructed on about 809 hectares of land area in the commune of Maria Elena. The total project investment is US$496 million.
The solar farm is expected to be operational by 2024.
