The Government of Chile has commissioned the 103 MW S4 Solar Chile park that features 300,000 solar panels installed in about 350 hectares concessioned by the Ministry of National Assets.
The solar park incorporates technology with sun tracking to optimize the efficiency of the panels that could reduce 124,650 tons of CO2 per year.
The solar park is built about 120 kilometers southeast of Iquique city and can generate energy equivalent to 100 thousand homes. The project had an investment of about US$200 million, generating 250 jobs during its construction phase. There are 14 regions that have these public chargers for electric cars.
Sojitz Corp and Shikoku Electric Power Company Inc are the developers of the solar farm.
