Boralex Inc. has commissioned the 18 MW Bougainville repowering wind project located in the Somme department in France.
The original six wind turbines installed at the Bougainville wind farm in 2005 have been replaced with the same number of new-generation turbines. The old turbines have a recycling rate of more than 90% and will be sold on the European secondhand market. All of the concrete and steel collected from the foundations have been transferred to the authorized recycling channels for reuse in the construction and public works industries.
The repowering of the wind farm has improved its production by more than 50%.
