The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has approved financing of BRL1.26 billion (US$312.4 million) to Engie's 360 MW phase of Umburanas Wind Complex.
The 360 Mw phase of the Umburanas Wind Power Complex consists of 18 wind farms. The complex is located in the municipalities of Sento Se and Umburanas in Bahia state and is comprised of 144 units of its 2.5-116 turbines. Total investment in the complex is BRL1.6 billion (US$398.8 million), including associated transmission lines. The BNDES loan will cover 78.8% of the total project investment.
The total capacity of Umbrunas complex is 605 MW. It will be the largest wind farm complex in Brazil when it reaches operation.
