The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has announced that it will support the implementation of the 434 MW Santo Agostinho Wind Farm located in the Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
The project is developed and owned by Engie and is comprised of fourteen parks in the municipalities of Lajes and Pedro Avelino. Once operational, the onshore wind farm will produce enough clean and renewable energy to supply for around 800,000 homes. The construction works will attract 900 local workers with another 80 jobs created after the completion of the works.
BNDES will provide support in the amount of BRL1.47 billion (US$261 million), corresponding to 64% of the project's total investment of BRL2.3 billion (US$409.8 million).
