The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has approved the BRL95 million (US$22.72 million) for the Special Purpose Entity (SPE) Nova Guaporé Energética S/A to implement the 14 MW Nova Guaporé Small Hydroelectric Power Plant (PCH) in the municipalities of Pontes e Lacerda and Vale de São Domingos, in Mato Grosso.
BNDES financing corresponds to 75% of the total investment of the project, which is BRL126.5 million (US$30.25 million).
PCH Nova Guaporé is in compliance with the National Energy Plan and the Ten Year Plan of the Energy Research Company, as it is the generation of renewable hydraulic energy and is fundamental for energy security. The project will save the environment of 208 thousand tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to the annual emission of 10 thousand airplane trips.
BNDES financing will take place within the scope of Finem, through the financing line for electricity generation. The deadline for executing the project is up to two years.
Nova Guaporé Energética is an SPE belonging to the Polimix Group, in turn, made up of companies from multiple segments - such as concrete, cement, mining, industrial lime, renewable energy, real estate leasing and logistics - with a presence in 23 Brazilian states, five Latin American countries and the United States.
