Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has issued a tender for the construction of a 100 MW solar power plant in Bilaj Al Jazayer, on the Southwest coast of Bahrain.
The Plant will deploy proven PV technology modules supported by utility-grade inverters suitable for local conditions. The scope encompasses generation facilities and their associated infrastructure, including access and internal roads. The selected bidder will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the Project for 25 years, including development, financing, construction, operation, maintenance, decommissioning, and site restoration.
A consortium of international and local consultancy firms has been appointed to oversee the project. KPMG Fakhro will serve as the financial advisor, WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff as the technical advisor, and Trowers & Hamlins as the legal advisor.
The Bilaj Al Jazayer Independent Power Project (BAJ Solar IPP) will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. Interested developers will have until December 28, 2025, to submit their bids. The target commercial operation date (COD) is September 30, 2027.
