Aura Power has secured GBP 33.1 million (US$ 41.7 million) project financing to fund the construction of its 40 MW Burtree Lane solar project in Darlington, UK.
The 40 MW (AC) Burtree Lane project received planning approval in November 2022 and, once operational, will generate enough clean electricity to power around 14,000 homes while offsetting approximately 10,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
The site will also deliver significant environmental benefits, including a 46% biodiversity net gain through landscaping measures such as tree hedgerow and wildflower planting. Additionally, a c.£20,000 per year community benefit fund will be established to support local social, educational, and environmental initiatives.
