The committee members of the Darlington Borough Council have granted development approval to Aura Power for the construction of the 49.9 MW Burtree Lane solar photovoltaic farm in Darlington, Durham County, UK.
The site construction is expected to start in 2023. Aura Power highlighted in its proposal the planned ecological enhancements included in the design, such as new hedgerows and trees, alongside marshy grassland.
The project is also set to provide local community benefits. The solar farm’s proposal includes a GBP20,000 (~US$24,000) yearly Community Benefit Fund, which would equate to GBP800,000 (~US$946,000) by the end of the farm's 40-year operational lifetime of development.
