Ørsted plans to develop 320 MW Solar project in UK

Ørsted is planning to develop a 320 MW Kingfisher Solar Farm proposed on land three miles north of the town of Beverley and east of the A164 in the East Riding of Yorkshire, UK.

Residents are invited to share their feedback on the Kingfisher solar project. If approved, the facility is projected to be operational by 2030 and provide clean energy for up to 60 years. This initiative supports the UK’s ambition to produce 95% of its electricity from renewables by 2030.

Randall Linfoot, Ørsted’s programme manager for Kingfisher, said: “Kingfisher Solar Farm will provide green energy for around 100,000 British households, making a significant contribution toward meeting the country’s ambitious plans to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050."

Ørsted plans to use the same underground cable route approved for its Hornsea 4 Offshore Wind Farm to connect the Kingfisher solar project to the national grid. The cable will link to the Creyke Beck substation, located south of Beverley and north of Cottingham.
