The Arlington County Board has approved a partnership with Dominion Energy Virginia to purchase power from a solar farm in southern Virginia.
Dominion Energy is set to build the solar project in Pittsylvania County. The facility is expected to generate about 79,000 megawatt-hours of electricity per year. The solar plant will supply its 32% energy to Arlington County while the remaining 68% will be supplied to Amazon.
The construction of the solar plant is set to start in 2020 with the commissioning expected to be achieved in 2022.
