AMEA Power plans to expand the Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Solar Power Plant in Togo, from 50 MW to 70 MW. The purpose of the solar farm is to provide universal access to electricity by 2030, as part of Togo's National Development Plan.

The Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Solar Power Plant will be located in the village of Blitta and will contain a 4 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to provide sustainable energy at night.

Under the terms of the funding deal, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) would lend the Togolese Ministry of Economy and Support US$25 million to finance the development of the complex and the addition of battery storage.
